Doug Hughes If I had it my way it would be so different but I am powerless.

I am not a fan of punishment at all though I do know that in the cases where there is a danger to others we would need jail. In all other cases I would love to see treatment and remediation instead.

Most crime is a trauma response. Reading books like the “Boy who was raised as a dog” and being a PTSD survivor myself I know that in the vast majority of cases behavior can be changed with the right treatment.

I think its sad that we jump so quickly to shame and punish instead of assessing the best solution and often this approach needlessly destroys people and families.

Unfortunately, people can’t handle anything thats not all good or all bad. They have to lock people up to get a false sense of security.

In my view there are no bad people, only bad behavior and behavior change doesn’t happen from locking people up
