Hi Tony. Mine is being fixed but its a long slow process. I do group therapy with a good therapist and then I have close friends from therapy with whom I have closer friendships. Being more open and honest in friendship is how you get over it. I used to keep everything to myself but now I text friends to say I’m feeling scared or anxious. Just like everything else you have to practice.

Many people I know found this type of friendship through AA but unfortunately for me I don’t have a drinking problem. I did go to ACOA (Adult children of Alcoholics) even though my parents didn’t drink and I found friends there who I could be honest with. Some guys I know from therapy are in a group called Victories for Men which helps guys form the kind of friendships that can help you get over the fear of intimacy. You could check it out if you like.

Good luck. You are not alone and at least you are being honest with yourself. Most people are in denial so you are already a step ahead
